Etnies Goofy vs. Regular.

Yesterday I went up to Big Bear Ski Resort to take pictures for the Etnies Goofy vs. Regular contest. Here are my top choices from the day:

This first one isn't the greatest, but I liked how the mom and daughter were distracted.:

I liked this one... that hip was huge. (the photo's a bit contrasty/dark when i put it on the web. Actual file is better):

boing.

bang.

The new camera is working out sweet! Held up to some snow and rain from that day. Putting this baby to work!

Time Magazine + New Camera.

Fun news! I shot some photos for Time Magazine a little bit ago (November/December?) for a story on school teachers across the country. I was told they scrapped the story... BUT! I got a call from Martha, my photo editor for Time, on Monday, telling me that they printed the article and that I got the lead photograph for the cover story! She also stated that they almost used my photograph for the cover of the magazine. "Almost" is still good news for me. Especially because I thought the photograph would never get published. Anyways... Below is the spread:

Check how big they printed my name! (Don't laugh at me. I'm still early in my career, this is still a novelty for me. haha.)

Here's a photo of the cover photograph that they used:

More fun news. My pops purchased a Nikon D3 a couple months ago. The shop just got it in yesterday because there's a long waiting list for the camera. It's Nikon's top of the line camera. The thing's sooo sick. I tested it out today with the prettiest being in my household... a golden retriever named Ledger. He's probably the worst retriever there is...

Example: Trying to catch his toy with his eyes closed.

But with that said, he's such a pretty dog. Love the guy:

And I had to try the high ISO. Here's an untouched photo, shot at 3200ISO.

The 6400 isn't all that bad for how high that ISO is for digital. But it's still not something I'd use. It's an improvement in the right direction for sure. It'll be interesting to see how crazy cameras will get within the next 5-10 years.

Upcoming shoots:
Musicians Blu & Leah.

After that, I'm working on a few things for a week and I'm off to Italy... then Italy to NYC... then back home. Word.

Oh man! I almost forgot! New issue of Prequel Magazine is out now! For those who don't know, I work with some guys on this magazine. It's a really fun project that's been going 2 years strong. It's a pocket sized lifestyle magazine that's distributed to boutiques around the country. This issue's awesome! I have a ton of photos in it, and the cover.

Here's a link to download the latest issue as a PDF version.... for those who can't get their hands on a hard copy.

Utah Part 2. (and cog magazine!)

Here's a few from my film shots while in Utah. I'm going to be uploading a few a day. Might miss the next two days because I'm heading to Las Vegas in the morning for some trade shows. These photos are a little disjointed and from different days. We had a lot of fun... and a TON of fresh powder everyday. Knee high or more on the daily! But anyways, onto the pictures for your viewing pleasure:

*For the record. The Hummer H3 wasn't our first choice as a rental, but it did it's job surprisingly well. haha.

Also! New issue of Cog Magazine came out. I have some photos in there.

First one is a spread from one of the LAfixedrides.

Taco Tuesday's "Photo ride.":

Photos for a story on Swrve Cycling Clothing:

and the cover just in case you're somewhere to see it... a.k.a. a bike shop geared towards fixed gear bikes.

Ok. Time for bed. Next stop, Vegas. Maybe I'll bring back some photos from there as well!

Another Minute...

An Oldie, but a goody. Meet, Omid.:

So it's been a little since the last update with real photographs. I've been busy preparing my applications to send out for grad schools. Yup, decided to try to go back to school if they'll have me. But those will be done soon, then I'm off to Utah on Thursday for a little snowboard trip with one of my cousins and our good friend. I have a finished roll of film just staring at me. Hopefully I can get around to processing that and posting up some goodies before my Utah trip. Be prepared for some goodness when I get back though! (Hopefully!) I plan on bringing a few cameras and a decent amount of film.

In the mean time, I got a couple new goodies for my Hasselblad. Finally got a 45degree Prism for it as well as an extra A12 back. So now I can shoot faster, and also be more precise in my focusing! That's always a plus.

My camera now looks like it belongs to Darth Vader. Just wait until I can track down a good deal on a handle and an auto winder for it. (I think I can put an auto winder on it. Maybe?) We'll be in business then.

*ALSO! Mike Hulswit (my other talented cousin/web design guy) and I are almost ready to launch my new website. We'll have that up by this week. There's just a few little adjustments to be made, which will probably continue even after we launch it. Keep an eye out. And an ear, because I will be yelling at you to let you know that it's up.

-Las Vegas for Magic Trade show. (Feb. 12th-15th)

*Side note: You may be wondering what happened to all of the photos... I went over my bandwidth limit for photobucket, so the photos will be back by next month.
